We’d like to introduce our Studio Coordinator, Jacob Burstein. Jacob came to us as an intern and we quickly saw his charisma and character and knew he would make a great Studio Coordinator. A creative himself, Jacob loves vintage shopping, sketching, and crime shows. He is the voice on the other side of the phone, the smile that greets you as you enter our office, and the go-to guy for all things The Charles.
Our Junior Creative, Sianna Stewart, interviewed Jacob to find out what makes him tick, find out more below.
Who are you and what do you do at The Charles?
Hi! My name is Jacob Harris Burstein and I am the Studio Coordinator at The Charles. My role varies from day to day, which I love! It keeps things interesting and gives me a chance to experience everything involved at an agency. I am the “House Mom.” I am our social media presence. I am our go-to question guy. I am The Charles brand.
Why did you come to New York?
I can’t pinpoint exactly why, or when, I knew I needed to move here. I just always knew it was something I’d have to do at some point in my life. After graduating college in Chicago, I knew I needed to experience something greater, bigger, scarier; all while giving myself the opportunity to blossom in a city where there are no limits.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to balance my spare time with friends vs. alone time. When I’m with my friends, we can be found on the streets of Bushwick enjoying a beer or bubbly; or we’re rummaging through a thrift store. We’re laughing, gossiping, and almost always eating.
I am a born creator, so during my free time, I like to work on the various personal projects I’ve taken on at the moment. I have a background in product design, so I am working on a mini collection of designed objects for the home that I feel capture my spirit and charisma. You’ll find me working with ceramics, digital textiles, rugs, and whatever I can make in my apartment.
Describe your personal aesthetic in 3 words.
Quirky, Bright, and Cute.
What are some things you can’t live without?
My weekly InTouch, Sweet n’ Low, a feathered down comforter, and Kim Kardashian’s ass.
How have you grown at The Charles?
When I came to The Charles, I was fresh out of college. I was considering myself a Visual Designer, which I quickly learned I was not. I have grown into a professional, or am on the way to becoming that. I’ve learned my strengths and weaknesses in a way that University simply cannot prepare you for. The Charles has planted the little budding professional flower I will be one day, and baby, I’m far from stopping anytime soon!
