Gurney’s Winter Igloos Awarded Bronze in Best Use of Content in Experiential Setting

Our Gurney’s Winter Igloos Campaign and Experience has been awarded a bronze medal in Best Use of Content in a Live or Experiential Setting by the Corporate Content Awards team!

Gurney’s Resorts approached The Charles looking for a way to create experiential, Instagrammable moments at their resort that would set them apart. By taking advantage of the resorts’ outdoor deck space during the winter months, we conceptualized, designed and installed eight heated igloos overlooking the ocean. In order to maximize F&B revenue at Gurney’s Montauk and Gurney’s Newport, each igloo had its own theme ranging from a Winter Wonderland to a Tropical Getaway. The igloos were outfitted for the ultimate excursion in comfort and leisure while including interactive elements, such as costumes and props to encourage guests to take and share photos.

At launch, the Igloo Campaign was an immediate hit – leading to high engagement on social channels, in addition to selling out! After the initial launch, Gurney’s Resorts’ igloos had sold out every weekend while also garnering press attention in ForbesDeparturesBusiness Insider and more. The igloos had a few unexpected outcomes including a rise in the volume of bookings for special occasions including a staff-sponsored list of wedding proposals, sometimes occurring more than once a day!

The Gurney’s Igloos project exemplifies The Charles’ goal to cultivate meaningful experiences that marry digital and physical spaces. By delving into innovation that excites, we hoped that the ideation process and implementation of the igloos would spark a desire for exploration, community, and collaboration.
